Cable Cinch Furniture

Minimally designed in homage to Donald Judd’s minimalist furnishings, these flat-packing benches made of birch plywood have holes in their frames, providing a path through which paracord cushion tails are pulled and fastened with a cable lock.

Inspired by traditional methods of tufted upholstery and the technical hardware of outdoor gear, these benches capture a crossover between two disciplines of design to insist upon user agency and suggest modularity.

The wooden frames were conceptualized in AutoCAD and fabricated with CNC technologies. All of the cushions are handmade with after-market textiles and recycled foam.
