Lily Pads

A study in seriality and user interaction, these ‘Lily Pads’ are a collection of individual mats intended for outdoor use. Whether at the park, on the roof, or on the beach, these boldly colored amorphous cushions act as a liaison between us and the ground, encouraging interior decorating in the outdoors for individuals and groups alike.

Born of necessity to provide a barrier between myself and my boiling roof, these Lily Pads began as two picnic mats comprised of awning fabric and carpet foam. Completely hydrophobic and resistant to the sun, these performative textiles serve great purpose in this reinterpreted context.
