Miscellaneous Furniture
Below is an archive of projects developed over the past 2-3 years which demonstrate the convergence of digital and manual techniques and processes I’ve acquired while evolving a concise design style earmarked by softness, minimalism, and playfulness.
Low Shelves
Set of two mirrored baltic birch shelves designed for the choosiest of clients: myself. Finally a mature replacement to the tired IKEA 8-cube organizer. Sketched to fit a specific wall in my apartment. Ripped on a table saw and joined with miters and dado joints. No hardware.
3/4” baltic birch plywood

Daphne Stool
Small, anthropomorphic stool conceptualized in 3ds Max and 3d printed with no use of support material. Named after Daphne’s go-go boots from the Scooby-Doo universe.

Work & Play Chair
Designed based on the duality of work & play, this chair has an ambiguous scale that implores both children and adults to sit, conflating two modes of living that are typically mutually exclusive.
MIG-welded steel rods evoking both expressive curves and structural regularity. Screen printed linen cushions with repeat misregistered image of a traditional rocking horse.
1/4” steel rods, natural linen
18” width x 16” depth x 17” seat height (29” total height)

Déjeuner Set
My first full-scale study of upholstered furniture, the Déjeuner Set is a group of four cubic seats that have been slightly angled in two directions to indicate nestling one to another in various formats.
In choosing bold colors and giving each seat ‘legs’ by carving some negative space, this project serves as my first departure into a style that has matured since, one in which user individuality and agency are prioritized.
Modeled in Rhino and flattened into a 2D pattern for upholstering. Wooden structure within fabricated with the development of a compound-miter jig. CNC machined feet fastened with t-nuts.
Arc-Com Prism upholstery fabric, plywood, foam, masonite, dacron
